So your beauty was there all along, 

 Hidden beneath your busyness, 

 they led you on to believing

that you're not good enough...

You told yourself to struggle to be who they like....

They said that you have issues with yourself

And could never win the wars in your mind...

They called you imperfect...

You we're bothered that these parts

 that were imperfect would never let you meet up to them... 
Maybe you should be thinking of letting them want to be you... 
You are gold, you are treasure... 
Your flaws are what constitute your beauty... 

You really are imperfect...

Imperfect is good, imperfect is life
you last longer and shine brighter under hard conditions 
Nature made you well, 

she couldn't have made a mistake; 
You have to look into yourself

 and understand who you really are....

You embraced flaws, you indulged your pride
you let your eyes see you in a whole different light
you realized how precious you really are
You are black, beautiful, strong and African
